Job summary

SMT GB is seeking a hands-on Yard Person to join our team in Immingham. You will help keep machines, equipment, and yard facilities well-organised, ensure safe storage, and support delivery schedules for customers.

The role requires experience in yard/ outdoor environments, knowledge of heavy machinery, and strong attention to detail. A full UK driving licence is preferred and a forklift licence would be advantageous.

Qualifications

• Experience in yard, warehouse, transport, or outdoor operational environment.
• Understanding of construction equipment or heavy plant equipment.
• Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently while being a reliable team player.
• Good communication skills and a proactive approach to work.
• A full UK driving licence and/or forklift licence would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and valeting machines to a high standard ready for customer delivery.
• Booking machines into the depot, carrying out visual inspections and allocating storage locations.
• Managing yard space efficiently and ensuring equipment is stored safely and effectively.
• Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment across the yard.
• Loading and unloading machinery, working closely with transport providers to meet delivery schedules.
• Supporting courier movements and maintaining accurate records of all deliveries and collections.
