Job summary

Ernest Doe & Sons Limited is seeking a hands-on Delivery/Yard Operative to join our depot team in the UK. The role involves driving a 3.5T van, loading/unloading machinery, keeping the yard tidy, and assisting with delivery and collection across a defined area.

You will perform routine vehicle checks, support stock movements, and help customers with purchases or repairs of horticultural machinery in a friendly, professional manner. Outdoor work and varying hours are required.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid UK driving licence with clean record.
• Experience with trailer towing preferred.
• Previous delivery/driving experience required.
• Ability to perform manual labour and operate outdoor equipment.
• Forklift licence or similar qualifications desirable.
• Able to work outdoors in all weathers.

Responsibilities

• Safely load and unload machinery using appropriate equipment.
• Drive a 3.5T flatbed van to collect/deliver goods.
• Maintain depot grounds and carry out basic landscaping tasks.
• Perform vehicle inspections and safety checks.
• Assist stores with stock movements between goods in and containers.
• Complete all delivery paperwork and record trips.
• Carry out basic assembly tasks such as building wheelbarrows.
• Assist customers with purchases or repairs of horticultural machinery.
• Follow health and safety protocols during transport and handling.
• Take on extra yard duties like painting and drain clearance.
