Job summary

Kemp Recruitment is seeking a practical Yard & Delivery Driver for a full-time, permanent position in Albourne, West Sussex. The role involves driving a 3.5T flatbed van to collect and deliver machinery, light assembly, and yard duties.

Applicants should hold a full UK driving licence, be able to work outdoors in all weathers, and provide friendly customer service while maintaining accurate delivery records. Overtime and benefits apply as listed in the job posting.

Qualifications

• A full UK driving licence; a clean licence or minimal points is preferred.
• Experience towing trailers; relevant trailer licence entitlement is desirable.
• Previous experience in a delivery, driving, yard or similar hands-on role.
• A good understanding of safe loading, unloading and securing of machinery.
• The physical fitness required to handle machinery and carry out manual duties.
• The ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Strong communication, organisation and time-management skills.
• The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility to work varying hours when required, including early starts or later finishes for longer-distance journeys.
• Experience within the horticultural, agricultural or construction sectors would be advantageous.
• A forklift licence or other relevant qualifications would be desirable.
• Good geographical knowledge of East and West Sussex would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Safely load and unload machinery using appropriate equipment and securing methods.
• Drive a range of vehicles, including a 3.5T flatbed van, to collect and deliver machinery, parts and goods to customers.
• Follow designated routes efficiently, ensuring deliveries and collections are completed safely and on time.
• Carry out general grounds maintenance, including mowing, strimming and leaf blowing.
• Conduct vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks to ensure vehicles remain safe and roadworthy.
• Support the stores team, including moving and organising stock between goods-in areas and storage containers.
• Complete delivery paperwork and maintain accurate records of journeys and deliveries.
• Carry out basic assembly work, such as assembling wheelbarrows and similar equipment.
• Assist customers with purchases and repairs of horticultural machinery, providing a friendly and professional service.
• Follow all relevant health and safety procedures when transporting, loading and handling machinery.
• Undertake general yard duties as required, including painting, drain clearance, sweeping and maintaining a clean and presentable depot.

Hours: 39 hours per week
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
