Job summary

Kemp Recruitment Ltd seeks a hands-on Yard & Delivery Driver to join our team in Albourne. The role covers driving a 3.5T van, yard duties, and assisting customers with horticultural machinery, while maintaining safety and efficiency. 39 hours weekly, full-time, permanent, with a competitive salary dependent on experience.

Applicants should have a full UK driving licence, experience with trailers, and be comfortable working outdoors in all weather. Training provided where needed.

Qualifications

• A full UK driving licence (clean preferred).
• Experience towing trailers is desirable.
• Previous delivery, driving, or yard work experience.
• Ability to load/unload machinery safely and securely.
• Physically fit for manual duties and outdoors work.
• Good communication and time management skills.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team.
• Knowledge of East and West Sussex advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Safely load and unload machinery with proper equipment; training available.
• Drive vehicles including a 3.5T flatbed van for deliveries and collections.
• Follow routes efficiently; complete deliveries/collections on time.
• Carry out general yard duties and stock moving between areas.
• Inspect vehicles and perform basic maintenance for roadworthiness.
• Prepare delivery paperwork and keep accurate journey records.
• Assist customers with purchases and repairs of horticultural machinery.
• Follow health and safety procedures at all times.

Yard & Delivery Driver

Location: Albourne, West Sussex, BN6 9BN

Hours: 39 hours per week

Contract: Full-time, permanent

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Safely load and unload machinery using appropriate equipment and securing methods. Training can be provided.


• Drive a range of vehicles, including a 3.5T flatbed van, to collect and deliver machinery, parts and goods to customers.


• Follow designated routes efficiently, ensuring deliveries and collections are completed safely and on time.


• Carry out general grounds maintenance, including mowing, strimming and leaf blowing.


• Conduct vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks to ensure vehicles remain safe and roadworthy.


• Support the stores team, including moving and organising stock between goods-in areas and storage containers.


• Complete delivery paperwork and maintain accurate records of journeys and deliveries.


• Carry out basic assembly work, such as assembling wheelbarrows and similar equipment.


• Assist customers with purchases and repairs of horticultural machinery, providing a friendly and professional service.


• Follow all relevant health and safety procedures when transporting, loading and handling machinery.


• Undertake general yard duties as required, including painting, drain clearance, sweeping and maintaining a clean and presentable depot.

About You

• A full UK driving licence; a clean licence or minimal points is preferred.


• Experience towing trailers; relevant trailer licence entitlement is desirable.


• Previous experience in a delivery, driving, yard or similar hands-on role.


• A good understanding of safe loading, unloading and securing of machinery.


• The physical fitness required to handle machinery and carry out manual duties.


• The ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.


• Strong communication, organisation and time-management skills.


• The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.


• Flexibility to work varying hours when required, including early starts or later finishes for longer-distance journeys.


• Experience within the horticultural, agricultural or construction sectors would be advantageous.


• A forklift licence or other relevant qualifications would be desirable.


• Good geographical knowledge of East and West Sussex would be an advantage.
