Job summary

Harlow Bros LTD in Derby is seeking a dedicated Yard Sales Assistant/Driver to join our team. The role combines delivering goods from the branch and assisting in maintaining a safe, clean, and fully functional site.

You will drive our pickup truck to customers in the surrounding area, learn to operate our machinery, and provide a courteous, professional service. The position is full-time with 44.5 hours weekly and Saturdays as described.

Qualifications

• Ability to provide a courteous and professional approach to customers.
• Ability to self-motivate, organise, and execute tasks.
• Ability to work safely and cleanly.
• Must hold a Full Driving License.

Responsibilities

• Based at Derby Branch and involved in warehouse, road and yard duties.
• Drive pickup truck to deliver goods to customers safely and legally.
• Be trained and developed in the use of our range of specialist machines and processes.
• Focus on load security and highway laws, delivering safely and efficiently to destinations and deadlines.
• Provide a prompt, polite, helpful and professional service to customers in branch and at delivery destinations, promoting a positive company image.
• Identify, pick, process, and issue goods accurately and to deadlines, using pick notes and job sheets.
• Manual rack filling with timber and sheet materials.
• Housekeeping of warehouses and yard.
• Undertake a variety of tasks including customer service, issuing goods, stock management, cutting and processing materials, and forklift duties.

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Hours of Work: 44.5 hours per week ranging from 07:30 - 17:00 as agreed with management and 2 in 4 Saturdays working between 08:00 - 12:00

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated Yard Sales Assistant/Driver to join our team in Derby. The role’s first of two parts is to deliver goods from the branch to customers in and around the branch’s surrounding area on our Pickup Truck The second part of the role is to be part of a team of operatives that work together to maintain a safe, clean, fully functional site, offer a knowledgeable, helpful, and professional service to our customers and to undertake various duties as the individual’s skill set develops and as directed by the Yard Supervisor

What you’ll be doing as a Yard Sales Assistant/Driver:

• The role is based at Derby Branch and is warehouse, road and externally yard based
• You will be called upon to drive our Pickup truck to make deliveries to customers in a safe, lawful and professional way
• You will be trained and developed in the use of our range of specialist machines and the processes they can apply
• To focus on load security & highway laws and drive safely and efficiently to delivery destinations and in reasonable time
• To provide a prompt, polite, helpful and professional service to customers in branch and at delivery destinations, always promoting a positive company image
• Identifying, picking, processing, and issuing goods accurately and to deadlines, working from written pick notes and job sheets
• Manual rack filling with timber and sheet materials
• Housekeeping of warehouses and yard
• You will be asked to undertake a variety of tasks - customer service through the issuing of goods to customers from sales tickets, order picking, stock management through manual rack filling, cutting and processing of materials, housekeeping and as deemed appropriate, forklift duties
