Job summary

Government of Jersey is recruiting a Warehouse Operative to deliver high-quality service at the yard, counter and shop floor in the Timber and Heavy Building Materials division. You will greet customers, assess needs and provide quick, efficient assistance to meet their requirements.

You will load and unload vehicles, handle orders, operate machinery safely (training provided), and develop product knowledge to better support customers while upholding high standards across the yard and shop.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer-facing roles.
• Ability to work safely with machinery.
• willingness to learn product knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Acknowledge every customer, ascertain their needs and wow them with quick and efficient service.
• Ask open questions to understand current and future requirements so we can support Timber and Heavy Building Materials.
• Maintain excellent standards across yard, counter and shop floor.
• Operate machinery safely and carry out offloading, picking, packing, restocking and loading vehicles.
• Support initiatives to increase sales, margin and service.
• Continually develop knowledge of core and specialist product lines.
• Loading and unloading vehicles both manually and with a forklift (training will be provided).
