Job summary

Bradfords Building Supplies is seeking a Yard Assistant to join our Barnstaple branch on a 21-hour per week contract. You will be the friendly face in the yard, helping customers, loading orders, and keeping stock tidy and safe.

This hands-on outdoor role offers training and development opportunities, a supportive team, and scope to spot sales opportunities while delivering excellent service in a busy branch environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in yard/warehouse or customer-facing environment is beneficial.
• Positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Assist in yard operations: pick and load orders, unload deliveries, and maintain stock.
• Provide excellent customer service and act as friendly face of the branch.

Job description

At Bradfords Building Supplies, our success is built on great people, exceptional service, and over 250 years of supporting customers across the South West. We’re looking for a Yard Assistant to join our Barnstaplebranch and play a key role in delivering a safe, efficient, and first-class customer experience. The role is for 21 hours per week- specific hours will be discussed at interview.

This is a hands-on, outdoor role where no two days are the same. As an important member of the branch team, you’ll be the friendly face of the business—supporting customers in the yard, accurately picking and loading orders, unloading supplier deliveries, maintaining stock, and helping keep the branch operating safely and efficiently. You’ll also have the opportunity to spot sales opportunities, build strong customer relationships, and support the wider team in driving branch success.

We’re looking for someone with a positive, can-do attitude who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in delivering excellent customer service, works well under pressure, and always puts health and safety first. Experience in a yard, warehouse, builders’ merchant, or customer-facing environment would be beneficial, but attitude and willingness to learn are just as important.
