Bradfords Building Supplies Ltd. is seeking a friendly, enthusiastic Sales Assistant to join our branch team in Barnstaple. This 21-hour-per-week role involves helping customers, providing product advice, and supporting stock and operations to ensure exceptional service.
The role covers trade counter and yard activity, with emphasis on accuracy, safety and teamwork in a busy branch environment. Training and development are available within a supportive culture.
At Bradfords Building Supplies, we've been supporting tradespeople, contractors and homeowners for over 250 years. As one of the South West's leading independent builders' merchants, we're proud of our reputation for exceptional customer service, expert advice and strong local relationships.
Our success is built on our people, and we're passionate about creating a workplace where colleagues can develop, thrive and build rewarding careers.
We're now looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and customer-focused Sales Assistant to join our branch team, working 21 hours per week. We are looking for somebody who is willing to be flexible with these hours. Specific hours will be discussed at interview stage.
This is a varied role that combines customer service, sales, stock management and operational support, making it ideal for someone who enjoys being active, working with people and making a difference every day.
As one of the key faces of the branch, you'll play an important role in helping customers find the products they need, providing expert advice and ensuring every visit to Bradfords is a positive experience.
Working across both the trade counter and yard, you'll support customers from the moment they arrive through to collecting their goods. You'll build strong relationships with customers, provide product advice and identify opportunities to promote additional products and services that could benefit their projects.
You'll also support the day-to-day operation of the branch by receiving deliveries, checking and storing stock, picking customer orders and helping maintain a safe, organised and efficient working environment. Working closely with colleagues across the branch, you'll help ensure customers receive excellent service while contributing to the branch's overall sales performance.
We're looking for someone with a positive attitude and a genuine passion for delivering excellent customer service. You'll enjoy working as part of a team, be comfortable speaking with customers and have the confidence to identify opportunities to support sales growth.
You'll be organised, proactive and able to work effectively in a busy environment while maintaining a strong focus on safety and accuracy. Previous experience in customer service, retail, warehouse operations or builders' merchants would be beneficial, but it's your attitude, willingness to learn and commitment to providing great service that matter most.
Our values of Commitment, Care, Consistency and Innovation are at the heart of everything we do, and we're committed to creating a workplace where people can develop, grow and succeed.
In return, you'll join a supportive team, receive full training and have the opportunity to build a rewarding career with a business that values its people and promotes from within wherever possible.
If you're looking for a varied and rewarding role where you can develop your skills, build customer relationships and be part of a successful team, we'd love to hear from you.
