Job summary

Bradfords Building Supplies is seeking a Yard Assistant for our Glastonbury branch to ensure a safe, efficient, and first-class customer experience. This outdoor, hands-on role involves helping customers in the yard, picking and loading orders, unloading deliveries, stock care, and contributing to the branch’s success.

The ideal candidate has a positive attitude, enjoys working outdoors, and is eager to learn.

Qualifications

• Experience in a yard, warehouse, builders' merchant, or customer-facing environment is beneficial.
• Attitude and willingness to learn are important.
• Holds a proactive, can-do approach and enjoys outdoor work.

Responsibilities

• Assist in yard tasks, picking and loading orders accurately.
• Unload supplier deliveries and keep stock organized.
• Maintain health and safety standards at all times.
• Provide friendly customer service and spot sales opportunities.

Job description

We’re looking for a Yard Assistant to join our Glastonbury branch and play a key role in delivering a safe, efficient, and first-class customer experience.

This is a hands‑on, outdoor role where no two days are the same. As an important member of the branch team, you’ll be the friendly face of the business—supporting customers in the yard, accurately picking and loading orders, unloading supplier deliveries, maintaining stock, and helping keep the branch operating safely and efficiently. You’ll also have the opportunity to spot sales opportunities, build strong customer relationships, and support the wider team in driving branch success.

We’re looking for someone with a positive, can‑do attitude who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in delivering excellent customer service, works well under pressure, and always puts health and safety first. Experience in a yard, warehouse, builders’ merchant, or customer‑facing environment would be beneficial, but attitude and willingness to learn are just as important.
