Job summary

Premier Education in Manningtree is seeking a Wraparound Care Playworker to help run our breakfast and after-school clubs for primary pupils. You’ll create a fun, safe and inclusive environment, delivering activities and supporting children before and after school.

The role is term-time only, part-time (24 hours per week) with shifts including mornings and afternoons; pay ranges from £8.00 to £12.71 per hour, with pay bands by age. Training and DBS check are provided.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children (paid or voluntary).
• Ability to create safe, fun and inclusive play for children of all ages and abilities.
• Ability to work as part of a team and take direction from the Site Lead.
• Understanding of safeguarding and children’s wellbeing.
• A warm, patient and encouraging approach to working with children.
• Reliable transport to attend sessions on time, including morning and afternoon shifts.
• Willingness to complete required safeguarding, paediatric first aid and food hygiene training, and undergo an Enhanced DBS check.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver fun, inclusive play activities.

• Set up play areas, refreshments and maintain safety.

Wraparound Care Playworker
Location: Lawford CofE VA Primary School, Manningtree, Essex, CO11 2EF
Hours: 24 per week
Working pattern: Split shifts covering breakfast and after-school clubs
Contract: Term-time only
Pay: £8.00–£12.71 per hour
Pay is based on the applicable age-related pay bands:

• Apprentice / Aged 16–17: £8.00 per hour
• Aged 18–20: £10.85 per hour
• Aged 21 and over: £12.71 per hour

About the role
As a Wraparound Care Playworker with Premier Education, you’ll help create a fun, safe and inclusive environment for primary school children attending our breakfast and after-school clubs.
Working alongside the Site Lead and wider team, you’ll support children through a range of creative, active and social activities, helping them build confidence, develop friendships and enjoy their time outside the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

What you’ll be doing

• Help plan and deliver fun, engaging and inclusive play activities.
• Support the Site Lead with the daily running of the club, including safe collection and handover of children.
• Provide age-appropriate personal or intimate care where required, in line with company policies.
• Set up play areas, prepare refreshments and maintain a clean, safe environment.
• Encourage positive behaviour and involve children in choosing activities.
• Build positive relationships with children, parents, schools and colleagues.
• Follow safeguarding, health and safety and EYFS procedures, including reporting concerns and administering first aid where required.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Essential

• Experience working with children (paid or voluntary).
• Understanding of how to create safe, fun and inclusive play for children of all ages and abilities.
• Ability to work as part of a team and take direction from the Site Lead.
• A good understanding of safeguarding and children’s wellbeing.
