Job summary

Forward Assist Recruitment in Burnley is seeking a hands-on Workshop Technician / Mechanical Engineer to build, repair and upgrade highly automated machinery used in the pipeline and coatings sector. This is real, practical engineering work in a focused team.

You’ll join a specialist engineering group with around five years of mechanical experience expected. Key tasks include machine builds, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, fault finding, assembly, testing, and reading engineering drawings.

Qualifications

  • Around 5 years of mechanical engineering experience.
  • Strong fitting and machine-build experience.
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic knowledge.
  • Fabrication and welding experience.
  • Fault diagnosis and maintenance experience.
  • General machining skills.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Basic electrical understanding.
  • Experience working alongside Design Engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Mechanical fitting and complete machine builds.
  • Hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Fault finding and refurbishment.
  • Hydraulic pipework installation.
  • Testing and commissioning.
  • Design upgrades and engineering improvements.
  • Fabrication and welding.
  • Preventative maintenance.
  • Reading technical drawings and specifications.
