Job description

VANRATH has partnered with one of Northern Ireland's most established Heavy Vehicle Dealerships to recruit a Workshop Supervisor position.

This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced individuals to join a longstanding company offering many routes for progression.

Position Type: Permanent

Location: Coleraine

Salary: Negotiable + fantastic benefits (see attached), company pension scheme, free laptop, etc.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Oversee the daily operations of the depot workshop to ensure smooth functioning.
2. Allocate jobs, plan, and execute tasks considering technician capabilities.
3. Maximize staff utilization and sold hours to enhance workshop productivity.
4. Plan workshop space efficiently for optimal workflow.
5. Ensure all vehicles are road tested as required and appropriate.
6. Manage holidays and sickness absences to maintain adequate staffing for scheduled work.
7. Coach technicians and apprentices to develop skills, knowledge, and capabilities.
8. Coordinate with the training department to ensure technician availability for training courses.
9. Liaise with the parts department to ensure timely availability of parts.
10. Ensure all job cards are signed off with the necessary information.
11. Perform quality checks to adhere to 'right first time' standards for service, repair, and PSV.
12. Review completed job cards for accuracy and completeness.
13. Report defects to customers with quotes provided.
14. Challenge technicians on efficiency, hours sold, lost time, and vehicle cleanliness.
15. Report maintenance issues within the workshop.
16. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and procedures.
17. Perform ad hoc duties as directed by the Dealerpoint Manager or Directors.

Ideal Candidate:

1. Strong technical knowledge and background in heavy commercial vehicles (essential).
2. Commercial awareness and understanding of factors affecting technician efficiency and utilization.
3. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and adapt to changing needs.
4. Valid full driving license.
