Workshop Supervisor - Plant
Location: Fleet
Salary: £24 - £26 per hour (£56,000 - £61,000)
Our client, who specialise in waste management, recycling and construction, are seeking an experienced Workshop Supervisor to lead the day-to-day operation of their Plant Department. This is a hands-on role, with an approximate 50/50 split between workshop-based technical work and supervising the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support a team of 5 technicians and 2 apprentices
- Organise and manage daily workshop workloads, priorities and standards
- Remain hands-on within the workshop, supporting with repairs, maintenance and fault diagnosis
- Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard
- Provide technical support and guidance to engineers and fitters when required
- Train, mentor and develop apprentices and less experienced engineers
- Maintain high standards of health and safety across the workshop
- Ensure workshop equipment, tools and facilities are maintained to a high standard
- Work closely with other departments to maximise plant availability
- Ensure relevant workshop documentation and records are completed accurately
- Take ownership of the day-to-day running and performance of the workshop
Requirements
- Proven experience within a plant, heavy equipment or workshop environment
- Previous experience supervising and managing a team of engineers, technicians or fitters
- Strong technical knowledge of plant and heavy equipment maintenance and repair
- Must be comfortable working in a 50/50 hands-on and supervisory role
- Strong ability to organise workloads, manage priorities and maintain workshop standards
- Excellent communication skills and confidence managing and supporting a team
- Genuine willingness to train, mentor and develop apprentices and less experienced engineers
- Stable employment history, with clear and reasonable explanations for any frequent moves
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety and good workshop practices
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Relevant technical qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 or equivalent would be advantageous
Salary & Benefits
- Salary £24 - £26 per hour (£56,000 - £61,000)
- Monday to Friday, 07:00 - 17:00
- Saturday overtime available at time and a half
