Forward Assist Recruitment is sourcing a Service Manager based in Hemel Hempstead with a salary to £65,000. You will manage the day-to-day running of the service department, overseeing ~25 fitters (including 6 mobile) plus 2 service staff, and maintain about 1200 pieces of plant.

You will oversee hire equipment checks, drive health and safety standards, maximise equipment availability, support recruitment, and drive improvements in engagement and productivity across the team.

• Oversee approx. 1200 pieces of plant and ~25 fitters (incl 6 mobiles) plus 2 service staff.
• Oversee hire equipment checks, including Service Red Pen Checks and PDIs.
• Lead workshop health & safety standards and safe working practices.
• Maximise equipment availability by overseeing major and minor repairs.
• Supervise and support workshop staff performance and development.
• Plan, implement and maintain processes to maximise productivity and efficiencies.
• Hold daily briefings with all workshop staff to plan upcoming works.

Service Manager

Based in Hemel Hempsteadto £65,000

Our client have been supporting the UK construction industry with reliable plant hire for over 40 years. Known for our personal service and sustainable solutions, we take pride in doing things differently.

Manage the day-to-day running of the service department effectively inc approx. 25 fitters (inc 6 no mobiles) plus 2 service dept staff

Manage / Oversee / Service / Maintain approx. 1200 pieces of Plant

Oversee hire equipment checks, including Service Red Pen Checks, PDI’s and major repairs

Lead workshop health & safety standards and safe working practices

Manage major and minor repairs to maximise equipment availability

Supervise and support workshop staff performance and development

Ensure statutory training is up to date across the team

Maintain workshop and yard compliance standards

Deliver toolbox talks and regular team briefings

Analyse weekly purchase order reports to identify savings and highlight overspend

Support recruitment of workshop fitters when required

Drive improvements in engagement, productivity, and retention across the team

Plan, implement and maintain any processes to ensure maximum productivity and efficiencies across the workshop and yard

Hold daily briefings, in conjunction with the Workshop Supervisor, with all workshop staff, to plan upcoming works required

What we're looking for
