Job summary

SER (Staffing) Ltd in Bedford area is seeking a skilled Workshop Plant Fitter to service and repair heavy plant machinery in a busy workshop, including excavators, dumpers, loading shovels and dozers. The successful applicant will work as part of a supportive team in a hands-on environment.

The role offers £20 per hour base, overtime and 31 days holiday, with pension and manufacturer training to support career development.

Qualifications

• NVQ or equivalent in plant maintenance is essential.
• Experience with heavy plant machinery (excavators, dumpers, dozers).
• Strong mechanical, hydraulic and electrical knowledge.
• Able to read and interpret manuals and schematics.
• Good problem-solving and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, servicing, and repairs on heavy plant machinery.

• Perform maintenance, servicing, and repairs on a wide range of heavy plant machinery.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults.
• Conduct routine inspections to ensure equipment is in optimal working condition.
• Maintain accurate records of all work carried out, including service reports and parts used.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations and company policies at all times.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and minimal downtime.
• Provide technical support and advice to colleagues and customers when required.
