Solutions Engineering Recruitment is seeking a skilled Workshop Plant Fitter in Bedford (Commutable). The role offers a competitive hourly rate and overtime opportunities in a busy workshop environment.

Qualifications

• NVQ in Plant Maintenance or equivalent qualification is essential.
• Experience with heavy plant machinery including excavators, dumpers, loading shovels, and dozers.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Proactive and self-motivated in work.

Responsibilities

• Conduct scheduled maintenance and servicing of plant machinery.
• Diagnose and repair faults to minimize downtime.
• Ensure tools and equipment are maintained and stored correctly.
• Collaborate with the team to prioritize and complete tasks efficiently.
• Keep the workshop clean, organized and compliant with safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, servicing, and repairs on a wide range of heavy plant machinery.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults.
• Conduct routine inspections to ensure equipment is in optimal working condition.
• Maintain accurate records of all work carried out, including service reports and parts used.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations and company policies at all times.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and minimal downtime.
• Provide technical support and advice to colleagues and customers when required.
