Job summary

SER (Staffing) Ltd is seeking a skilled Workshop Plant Fitter to service and repair heavy plant machinery in a Bedford-area workshop. You will work on excavators, dumpers, loading shovels and dozers, performing maintenance and diagnostics.

The role offers £20 per hour base, overtime and 31 days holiday, a pension scheme and manufacturer training. Commutable from Bedford and surrounding areas.

Qualifications

• NVQ in Plant Maintenance or equivalent qualification is essential.
• Proven experience working with heavy plant machinery, including excavators, dumpers, loading shovels, and dozers.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• A proactive and self-motivated approach to work.

Responsibilities

• Conduct scheduled maintenance and servicing of plant machinery.
• Diagnose and repair faults to minimize downtime.
• Ensure tools and equipment are maintained and stored correctly.
• Collaborate with the team to prioritise and complete tasks efficiently.

• Maintain accurate records of all work carried out, including service reports and parts used.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations and company policies at all times.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and minimal downtime.
• Provide technical support and advice to colleagues and customers when required.
