Job summary

Yorkshire Water is seeking three Repair Centre Mechanical Engineers to join our in-house workshop in Normington. You will repair and maintain pumps, motors and gearboxes, ensuring safe operation and high standards. The role combines workshop work with occasional site tasks and overtime to meet operational needs.

You’ll need a Level 3 Mechanical Craft or equivalent, plus experience with rotating equipment and strong fault-finding skills. A full driving licence is essential.

Qualifications

• Recognised Level 3 Mechanical Craft or Technician Apprenticeship.
• City & Guilds, ONC, BTEC, NVQ, HNC, HND or EngTech status preferred.
• Experience as a time-served industrial mechanical fitter.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and assess mechanical equipment in the workshop and restore assets to operational condition.
• Strip, overhaul, refurbish and rebuild pumps, motors, gearboxes, valves and related equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and replace components as needed.
• Decide whether to repair or condemn equipment.
• Prepare equipment for safe return to operation and maintain repair records.
• Ensure all work complies with health, safety and environmental requirements.
• Support installation, commissioning and investigations at sites when required.
• Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to minimise downtime.
