Job summary

SER Limited in Skelmersdale is seeking an experienced Workshop Manager to lead maintenance and repair of forklift trucks and warehouse equipment at a brand-new depot. This hands-on, site-based role involves managing a small team of engineers and ensuring high standards of workmanship and safety.

You will service electric, LPG and diesel trucks, diagnose faults, plan maintenance, and coordinate workshop operations.

Qualifications

• Must have strong hands-on experience with forklift trucks.
• Mechanical engineering background required.
• Good fault-finding and diagnostic skills essential.
• Desirable: LOLER certification and experience with Still/Linde equipment.

Responsibilities

• Servicing, maintaining and repairing forklifts and warehouse equipment.
• Work on electric, LPG and diesel counterbalance, pallet and reach trucks.
• Diagnose faults and complete repairs efficiently and safely.
• Carry out planned maintenance, inspections and breakdowns.
• Lead workshop operations and coordinate with higher management.
• Manage workload and guide other site-based engineers while upholding safety standards.
• Represent the company professionally at all times.

Role type: Site based

A well-established material handling company supplying and supporting forklift trucks and warehouse equipment to a wide range of customers is looking to recruit an experienced Workshop Manager to join its team.

The role is site based at a brand-new depot in Skelmersdale, and is a hands-on management position involving maintenance, repair and the rebuild of material handling equipment.

The Role

As the Workshop Manager, you will be responsible for:

• Servicing, maintaining and repairing a range of forklift trucks and warehouse equipment
• Working on a variety of equipment including electric, LPG and diesel counterbalance, pallet, and reach trucks
• Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs efficiently and safely
• Completing planned maintenance, inspections and breakdowns
• Leading workshop operations, working closely with higher management
• Manage both your own workload and other site-based engineers whilst maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety
• Representing the company professionally at all times

Experience & Skills

Essential

• Strong, hands-on experience working with forklift trucks
• Mechanical engineering background
• Good fault-finding and diagnostic skills

Highly Desirable

• Experience with Still or Linde equipment
• LOLER Certification
• Multi-skilled mechanical/electrical/hydraulics

Training

• Ongoing training and support is provided
• Manufacturer or product training available to develop skills across a wider range of equipment
