Job summary

A busy, family-run vehicle repair workshop in Small Heath is seeking a skilled Workshop Manager. You will oversee around 6 technicians, split roughly 70% management and 30% hands-on work in the workshop.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Vehicle Technician or time-served status.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle servicing, diagnostics and repairs.
  • Experience leading a workshop team.
  • Experience managing a team of around 6 staff.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operation of the workshop.
  • Lead and develop a team of around 6 technicians and support staff.
  • Allocate work and ensure high standards and efficiency.
  • Monitor productivity and workshop performance.
  • Carry out quality control checks.
  • Support diagnostics, servicing, maintenance and repair work.
  • Ensure health and safety procedures are followed.
  • Deliver excellent customer service and maintain relationships.

Family-Run Vehicle Repair Workshop Location: Small Heath

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 5:30pm

Saturday: Occasional Saturday mornings

Workshop Manager Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Workshop Manager to join our successful family-run vehicle repair business. This Workshop Manager role is perfect for someone who enjoys leading a team while remaining involved in the day-to-day workshop operations.

We are seeking a hands-on Workshop Manager who can oversee a team of approximately 6 staff, maintain high standards of workmanship, and ensure the smooth running of a busy workshop. The successful Workshop Manager will spend approximately 70% of their time managing the operation and 30% working on the tools.

This is an excellent position for a motivated Workshop Manager looking for a long-term career with a respected independent garage.

Key Responsibilities
  • Managing the day-to-day operation of the workshop
  • Leading, motivating and developing a team of around 6 technicians and support staff
  • Allocating work and ensuring jobs are completed efficiently and to a high standard
  • Monitoring productivity, efficiency and workshop performance
  • Carrying out quality control checks
  • Supporting diagnostics, servicing, maintenance and repair work as required
  • Ensuring health and safety procedures are followed
  • Delivering excellent customer service and maintaining strong customer relationships
Requirements
  • Qualified Vehicle Technician or time-served Vehicle Technician
  • Strong all-round knowledge of vehicle servicing, diagnostics and repairs
  • Previous workshop management, supervisory or team leader experience
  • Experience managing a team of approximately 6 staff
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to lead by example and maintain high workshop standards
  • Full UK Driving Licence
