Job summary

Orion Electrotech is seeking an experienced Workshop Manager to lead a busy workshop in Hemington, UK. You will ensure efficient planning, scheduling, and delivery of work, while maintaining safety, quality, and profitability. You will collaborate with service, sales, and parts teams to exceed customer expectations and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the workshop operation, ensuring efficient utilisation of labour and resources.
  • Plan, prioritise and allocate work across workshop engineers and support teams.
  • Maintain regular communication with customers to understand requirements and provide updates on progress.
  • Work closely with technicians to ensure jobs are completed within agreed timescales and quality standards.
  • Support the development and implementation of workshop processes and procedures to improve efficiency and service delivery.
  • Monitor workshop performance, productivity, and profitability.
  • Control costs and ensure labour hours are accurately recorded and allocated.
  • Prepare information to support quotations, project planning, costings, and job reviews.
  • Build strong relationships with the parts department to maximise parts availability and minimise downtime.
  • Coordinate collections, deliveries, transportation, and logistical support where required.
  • Manage warranty returns, inventory controls, and parts accuracy processes.
  • Drive operational improvements and identify opportunities to enhance workshop performance.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety policies and maintain a safe, organised, and professional working environment.
  • Collaborate with service, sales, stores, administration, and management teams to achieve business objectives.

The Opportunity

As Workshop Manager, you will be responsible for the day‑to‑day leadership of the workshop, ensuring all incoming work is planned, scheduled, and delivered efficiently, safely, and profitably. You will work closely with workshop engineers, service teams, parts departments, and customers to ensure jobs are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.

This is a hands‑on leadership role requiring strong organisational skills, commercial awareness, and the ability to create a culture of continuous improvement and customer excellence.

  • Strong planning, scheduling, and organisational abilities.
  • Commercial awareness with experience managing costs, productivity, and profitability.
