Job summary

Ball Corporation is seeking a Maintenance Technician to service tooling and ancillary equipment, ensuring smooth operation of the manufacturing area in Kettering. The role involves workshop and shop-floor work under the Maintenance Supervisor, with flexibility for shutdowns and conversions.

Working days are Monday to Friday, and the job requires hands-on experience with plant services, spares, and equipment refurbishment in a high-speed production environment.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship in a Manufacturing Mechanical Engineering discipline.
• Experience of working in a workshop environment and machine shop processes.
• Experience of preventative and planned maintenance on workshop and production equipment.
• Experience with compressors, boilers, water tanks, rollers, pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, pinchains, shafts, grinders, lathes, manual mills.
• Strong toolmaking skills.
• Manufacturing background in a high speed, high volume continuous process.
• Ability to work well under pressure and prioritise workload.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining Plant services (compressors, boilers, and water towers).
• Refurbishment, preparation and repair of plant spares & equipment (rollers, pumps, gearboxes).
• Assisting with plant breakdowns and line conversions.
• Engineering project work within the Plant.
• Complying with Environmental Policy and EMS.
• Keep registers, records and reports up to date.
• Support maintenance and conversion days, holiday shutdowns.
• Work on brand new production lines in workshop and on the shop floor.
