Job summary

Ball Corporation is seeking an apprentice in the Toolroom to support the plant’s tooling needs and rework worn tooling across all process areas. The role includes assisting workshop engineers with conversions, shutdowns and maintenance, while ensuring safe operation of toolroom machinery and high standards of housekeeping.

Qualifications

  • Apprenticeship in Manufacturing Mechanical Engineering is required.
  • Experience machining/operating a lathe and CNC Machine is essential.
  • Experience in a workshop environment and knowledge of machine shop processes is expected.
  • Ability to assist with breakdowns and line conversions; proactive maintenance mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Organise materials for the toolroom according to production demand.
  • Communicate efficiently with personnel to ensure effective running.
  • Perform repairs on machinery in the toolroom to a high standard.
  • Re-refurbishment, preparation and repair of plant spares and equipment (e.g., coater rollers, pumps, gearboxes, conveyors).
  • Assist with plant breakdowns and line conversions as needed.
  • Ensure safe use of toolroom/workshop machinery and maintain housekeeping standards.
