Job summary

SMT GB is seeking a Workshop Engineer to join our team in Duxford, Cambridgeshire, ensuring heavy plant equipment operates safely and efficiently. The role involves diagnosing faults, repairs, and maintaining machinery to high standards.

Ideal candidates will have a formal Plant Maintenance qualification, experience with heavy construction equipment, and strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electronics.

Qualifications

• Formal engineering qualification in Plant Maintenance or related discipline.
• Experience repairing and maintaining heavy construction plant equipment.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions, driveline and electronics.
• Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Good communication skills with colleagues and customers.
• Basic IT skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Service, maintain and repair Volvo Construction Equipment and other machinery.
• Diagnose faults across mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Record time and job information electronically in real time.
• Order and manage parts required to complete repairs.
• Ensure software updates are installed as new versions become available.
