Job summary

SMT GB in Leicestershire is seeking a skilled Workshop Engineer to diagnose, repair and maintain heavy plant equipment on-site at Bruntingthorpe, following quotations and agreed timescales.

You will hold a formal engineering qualification in Plant Maintenance or related discipline, with experience in diesel engines, hydraulics and electronics, and you will deliver high-quality workmanship and excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• You’ll ideally have a formal engineering qualification in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural Engineering, HGV Mechanics or a related discipline.
• Experience repairing and maintaining heavy construction plant equipment.
• Strong technical knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions, driveline systems and electronics.
• Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues and customers.
• Basic IT skills.
• A high level of attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• A reliable, conscientious and professional approach to work.
• The ability to understand and follow technical literature, service bulletins and parts manuals.

Responsibilities

• Service, maintain and repair Volvo Construction Equipment and other machinery as required.
• Carry out repairs in line with quotations and agreed timescales, highlighting any additional work requirements.
• Diagnose faults across mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Complete service inspection reports, oil sample reports and other required documentation accurately.
• Record time and job information electronically in real time.
• Order and manage parts required to complete repairs.
• Ensure software updates are installed as new versions become available.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
• Attend product and technical training to maintain and develop technical competence.
• Work in accordance with SMT GB's health, safety, quality and environmental standards.
