Job summary

SMT GB is seeking a Workshop Engineer at our Bruntingthorpe workshop to diagnose, repair and maintain Volvo Construction Equipment and other heavy plant machinery. You will service, inspect and repair equipment within agreed timescales and document all work completed.

We value engineers who can work independently yet support colleagues, have strong fault-finding skills across mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems, and follow technical literature and service bulletins to ensure

Qualifications

• Formal qualification in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural Engineering, HGV Mechanics or related field.
• Experience repairing heavy construction plant equipment.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions and electronics.
• Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic abilities.
• Good communication and ability to work with customers.
• Basic IT skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Service, maintain and repair Volvo Construction Equipment and other machinery.
• Carry out repairs in line with quotations and timescales, flagging additional work.
• Diagnose faults across mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Complete service inspection reports and oil sample reports accurately.
• Record time and job information electronically in real time.
• Order and manage parts required to complete repairs.
• Ensure software updates are installed as new versions become available.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
• Attend product and technical training to maintain competence.
• Work to SMT GB's health, safety, quality and environmental standards.
