Job summary

Briggs Equipment in Wellingborough is seeking a Workshop Engineer to service, maintain, and repair a range of diesel, LPG, and electric material handling equipment within a busy workshop. You will diagnose faults, carry out planned maintenance, and ensure PDIs meet customer requirements.

The role focuses on safe workshop practices, high-quality workmanship, and mentoring apprentices while supporting continuous improvement and teamwork within a skilled engineering team.

Qualifications

• Engineering/technical qualification required.
• Experience with forklifts or material handling equipment is desirable.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills expected.
• Able to work independently in a workshop setting and manage priorities.

Responsibilities

• Service, maintain, and repair diesel, LPG, and electric material handling equipment.
• Diagnose faults and perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM).
• Complete pre-delivery inspections (PDIs) to ensure equipment is customer-ready.
• Maintain a clean, safe workshop environment and organize shared spaces.
• Mentor apprentices and less experienced engineers.
