HTS Plant Sales is hiring a Workshop Engineer for a full-time, on-site role in Hereford. You will inspect, diagnose, maintain and repair heavy plant equipment to ensure safe operation and resale readiness.

Responsibilities include routine servicing, overhauls and refurbishments, maintaining meticulous maintenance records, and prioritising workloads in a busy workshop. You will also guide and train colleagues as needed.

Role Description

The Workshop Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Hereford. The role involves inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing a variety of heavy plant equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. Day-to-day tasks include performing routine services, overhauls, and refurbishments, completing accurate job cards and maintenance records, and supporting equipment preparation for resale. The Workshop Engineer will collaborate with colleagues to prioritize workloads, maintain a safe and organized workshop, and occasionally provide technical guidance or training to other team members. The role may also involve liaising with customers or suppliers to support equipment-related inquiries and parts requirements.

Qualifications

• Strong experience working with heavy equipment and plant machinery, including familiarity with workshop environments.
• Proficient in maintenance and repair of mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical systems on construction or industrial equipment.
• Effective communication skills for collaborating with colleagues, reporting issues, and supporting clear documentation.
• Ability to support training and knowledge sharing within the team, including mentoring less experienced colleagues.
• Relevant vocational qualification or apprenticeship in mechanical engineering, plant maintenance, or a related field.
• Good problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose faults using appropriate tools and methods.
• Commitment to health and safety best practices and maintaining a clean, orderly workshop environment.
• Full, valid driving license; prior experience in plant sales, hire, or refurbishment is an advantage.
