Job summary

Travail Employment Group are recruiting for an experienced Forklift Engineer at our Grantham site. You will service, maintain and repair forklift trucks and plant machinery in a workshop setting, with opportunities for training and development.

The role requires experience in plant, agricultural, HGV or material handling industries, strong hydraulics/electrical/mechanical knowledge, and the ability to work independently or in a team. Overtime is paid at 1.5x. A company pension is available.

Qualifications

• Experience in plant, agricultural, HGV or material handling industries (essential).
• Strong knowledge of hydraulics, electrical and mechanical systems (essential).
• Experience with engines and battery-powered equipment.
• NVQ / City & Guilds in mechanical/electrical engineering (advantageous).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults, service, and repair forklift and plant equipment.
• Conduct pre-delivery inspections (PDI) on new and used machinery.
• Carry out mechanical and electrical fault finding.
• Recondition and prepare equipment for hire or resale.
• Complete job sheets and service records accurately.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop.

What You’ll Do as Forklift Engineer

Based at the Grantham site, you will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, and repairing a range of forklift trucks and plant machinery within a workshop environment.

Key responsibilities of the Forklift Engineer include:

• Diagnosing faults, carrying out servicing, and completing repairs on forklift and plant equipment
• Conducting pre-delivery inspections (PDI) on new and used machinery
• Carrying out mechanical and electrical fault finding
• Working on key systems including:
• Reconditioning and preparing equipment for hire or resale
• Completing job sheets and service records accurately
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised workshop

Requirements for the Forklift Engineer

• Experience working in the plant, agricultural, HGV or material handling industries (essential)
• Strong knowledge of hydraulics, electrical, and mechanical systems (essential)
• Experience with engines and battery-powered equipment
