Job summary

Chevron Traffic Management is seeking a Works Delivery Manager to oversee the Thatcham and Winchester depots, driving safety, productivity and profitable contract delivery. You will manage existing contracts and support growth initiatives while coordinating with the Operations Manager.

Success hinges on building rapid relationships with customers, identifying new opportunities, and delivering contractual obligations to demanding safety standards. A full UK driving licence is required.

Qualifications

  • Experience in traffic management or highways projects.
  • Strong knowledge of East Midlands highways/utilities market.
  • Basic commercial understanding and budgeting awareness.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and business systems.
  • Willingness to adopt digital innovation.
  • Strong networking and relationship-building skills.
  • Clear, confident communicator and presenter.
  • Team player with ability to generate own leads.
  • Full UK driving licence and UK right to work.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee contracts from the Thatcham and Winchester depot ensuring safety and contract compliance.
  • Lead health and safety performance across contracts and drive productivity.
  • Manage P&L reporting to the Operations Manager and monitor financials.
  • Grow business by securing repeat work and pursuing new opportunities with clients.
  • Maintain strong relationships with customers and the depot team.

Location: Thatcham and Winchester depot (Travel between both)

Hours: 45 hpw Monday to Friday, flexible between 8am and 6pm

About The Role Of Works Delivery Manager

The purpose of this role is to manage existing contracts while supporting the growth of the business.

  • Take ownership of the health and safety performance of all contracts delivered from the depot
  • Drive productivity and support the Operations Manager with profit and loss responsibility
  • Grow the business by securing repeat work, identifying new opportunities and engaging directly with potential customers

Success in this role relies on your ability to build strong, effective relationships quickly with both customers and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities Of a Works Delivery Manager

This is a key role within the Thatcham and Winchester depot. The Works Delivery Manager will be expected to oversee all contracts delivered by the depot. Gaining and understand Chevron’s corporate systems and working with the wider team to ensure all work is delivered safely to the contract requirements and in line with industry best practice.

The successful candidate will be helping to deliver the contract financial performance (P&L) reporting directly to the Operations Manager. Learn and understand the local TM marketplace and how their team can take advantage of upcoming opportunities with both existing and new clients.

Assume responsibility for the health and safety of contracting operations delivered from the Depot:
  • Driving the Chevron safety culture
  • Ensuring the operatives dispatched to undertake each work order are suitably trained, competent, and physically fit
  • mentally capable of delivering the works safely
  • Periodically visiting works on site to ensure they are being delivered safely and in accordance with the company's
  • safe working procedures.
  • Briefing depot-based staff on current safety alerts, campaigns, toolbox talks and contract methodology, ensuring
  • correct delivery and understanding.
  • Ensuring that company procedures relating to H&S and HR are followed.
Drive productivity and take profit and loss responsibility for the contracts being undertaken:
  • Maximising depot productivity by overseeing the programming of schemes and managing work
  • allocations to TM crews
  • Manage and control contract expenditure/costs.
  • Reviewing and managing plant and vehicle expenditure.
  • Understand and manage the ongoing commercial position of each contract
Drive business growth by retaining existing customers, uncovering new opportunities, and building relationships with potential clients
  • Ensure excellent delivery and customer service on all works delivered by the depot to maximise the opportunity for
  • repeat business.
  • Foster working relationships with existing clients to identify new working opportunities both within the East Midlands
  • and further afield.
  • Proactively seek out new opportunities within the region, building relationships with new potential customers and
  • seeking new business opportunities

  • Traffic management or highways experience
  • Knowledge of the East Midlands highways and utilities market
  • Basic commercial understanding
  • Confident with Microsoft Office and business systems
