Job summary

Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking an experienced Occupational Health Advisor (Registered Nurse) to join our in-house Occupational Health and Wellbeing Team at Sandwell Council House, Oldbury. The role involves delivering occupational health assessments, fitness-for-work guidance, and evidence-based reporting to support employee wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Must be a Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong report-writing and clinical assessment skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• A proactive approach and commitment to delivering a high-quality service.

Responsibilities

• Undertake Occupational Health assessments and management referrals.
• Provide fitness for work advice and recommend reasonable workplace adjustments.
• Support sickness absence management and employee wellbeing initiatives.
• Produce clear, professional, and evidence-based Occupational Health reports.
• Work collaboratively with managers, HR colleagues, and employees.
• Contribute to service development, quality improvement, and best practice initiatives.
