Job summary

Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking an Occupational Health Advisor to join its in-house Occupational Health and Wellbeing Team. You will support employee wellbeing, influence service improvements, and help shape the direction of Occupational Health across the organisation.

You will undertake OH assessments, provide fitness for work advice, support sickness absence management, and produce professional OH reports while collaborating with managers, HR, and employees.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong report-writing and clinical assessment skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• A proactive approach and commitment to delivering a high-quality service.

Responsibilities

• Undertake Occupational Health assessments and management referrals.
• Provide fitness for work advice and recommend reasonable workplace adjustments.
• Support sickness absence management and employee wellbeing initiatives.
• Produce clear, professional, and evidence-based Occupational Health reports.
• Work collaboratively with managers, HR colleagues, and employees.
• Contribute to service development, quality improvement, and best practice initiatives.
