Job summary

Mitie Group plc. in Bristol is seeking a Cleaning Supervisor to deliver high service standards across Hitachi Rail Stoke Gifford Depot. You will lead a cleaning team, manage scheduling, training, and audits, and ensure work is performed safely and to rail-industry standards.

This permanent, full-time role is based on site, 37.5 hours per week, with a shift from 08:00 to 16:00, and requires hands-on leadership, strong communication, and a commitment to continuous improvement in service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Manage a cleaning team, including recruitment, scheduling, training, and development
• Deliver routine planned and periodic cleaning to a high standard
• Ensure staff follow task schedules and Health & Safety procedures
• Monitor cleanliness standards, distribute uniforms, and manage stock levels
• Handle issues professionally and escalate to line manager when needed
• Conduct regular cleaning audits across the depot to ensure cleaning standards are consistently maintained
• Manage and oversee the effective use of the Merlin Connect system, ensuring compliance with Mitie's proof of presence system for cleaning
• Train and supervise the cleaning team in the safe and effective use of scrubber dryers, pressure washers, and ride-on cleaning equipment
• Promote a strong safety culture by encouraging all team members to proactively identify and report hazards, near misses, and safety concerns within the rail working environment
• Act as the main on-site point of contact for Hitachi Rail Stoke Gifford, building and maintaining strong professional relationships with the customer

We're looking for a Cleaning Supervisor who will deliver excellent service standards, while meeting SLA agreements and managing a cleaning team across multiple client sites.

Pay: £15.45 per hour
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday- 08:00 - 16:00)
Location: Hitachi Rail, Northway, Little Stoke, Filton, Bristol, England, BS34 7QG

Role Purpose:

The Working Cleaning Supervisor will be responsible for the operational delivery, compliance, and performance management of cleaning services at the Hitachi Rail Stoke Gifford Depot. The role is based within a safety-critical rail environment and requires the ability to manage cleaning services in accordance with rail industry standards. The successful candidate will provide hands‑on supervision, lead by example, and ensure all cleaning activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard.
