Job summary

Think FE is recruiting a Work-Based Learning Practitioner in Plumbing for a further education college in Flintshire. The role involves managing a caseload of learners, visiting them at workplaces to assess practical skills and provide coaching and feedback.

You will work with employers to support learners’ development, monitor progress and help them achieve qualifications up to Level 3. A Level 3 plumbing qualification and Gas Safe eligibility are required.

Qualifications

• A minimum Level 3 qualification in Plumbing, or equivalent.
• Relevant, proven plumbing industry experience.
• Eligibility to join the Gas Safe Register.
• Level 2 English and Maths, or equivalent, at Grade C/4 or above.
• An interest in supporting learners and developing the next generation of plumbers.
• The ability to travel regularly to employer sites.
• Welsh language skills, or a willingness to learn through a supported, long-term professional development plan.

Work-Based Learning Practitioner – Plumbing
Location: Deeside, with regular travel to learners’ workplaces
Salary: £32,608–£36,748 per annum
Contract: Permanent, full-time
Are you an experienced plumber looking to pass on your skills? You don’t need to be a qualified assessor already – the college can support you to gain the qualifications you need.

The role

You’ll manage a caseload of learners, supporting them throughout their qualifications. Your responsibilities will include:

• Visiting learners in their workplaces to assess their practical skills.
• Providing coaching, mentoring and constructive feedback.
• Monitoring progress and helping learners stay on track.
• Working with employers to support learners’ development and achievement.

What you’ll need

Support to move into assessment

Applications are welcome from experienced plumbers who have yet to gain an assessor qualification. The college can support you to work towards the relevant qualifications, including TAQA, Quality Assurance (TAQA Unit 401) and Digital Literacy Level 2.
