Job summary

Ringway NH East is seeking reliable Winter Casual HGV drivers to support winter maintenance on National Highways. The role involves operating gritting and snow-plough vehicles to keep the Strategic Road Network safe during winter weather.

This is a zero-hours-like seasonal arrangement with a rota and on-call standby. A safety-critical role requiring professional practice and the ability to work in challenging conditions is described.

Qualifications

• Experience driving LGV/HGV in a professional environment.
• Experience in winter maintenance operations, highways maintenance, construction, infrastructure, utilities or similar.
• Knowledge of vehicle inspections, defect reporting, and safe operating procedures.
• Experience in safety-critical environments and adherence to operating standards.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, bank holidays and emergency call-outs.
• Good knowledge of local and strategic road network is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Operate gritting and snow-plough vehicles to maintain winter safety on the network.
• Work from a rota and be available for short-notice call-outs during adverse weather.
• Follow safety and operating procedures to deliver high-quality winter maintenance services.
