Job summary

Sulzer is seeking a skilled Motor Winder to join our Leeds service centre. You will repair, rewind, and refurbish LV and HV motors, ensuring safety and quality standards are met, in a role that supports our expanding client base.

Based in Leeds, the team focuses on repair, overhaul, and testing of rotating equipment across industries. We value hands-on learners who work well in a team and are committed to continual development.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in motor winding, motor repairs, or rotating equipment maintenance.
• Ability to dismantle, inspect, repair, and reassemble electric motors to a high standard.
• Strong fault-finding and problem‑solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Commitment to health, safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.
• A positive, hands‑on attitude with a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a close‑knit team.
• Experience working with high‑voltage and low‑voltage motors is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Carry out detailed repairs on motors, including disassembly, inspection, and rewinding of coils using insulated wires, ensuring motors meet original specifications.
• Overhaul motors by cleaning, replacing worn components, and restoring them to optimal working condition.
• Diagnose faults in motor performance and efficiency, ensuring all defects are addressed during the repair process.

About the role

We are looking for a Motor Winder to join our service centre team in Leeds. You will play a key role in the repair, rewinding, and refurbishment of various LV and HV motors, ensuring that all safety and quality standards are met.

The team specialises in the repair, overhaul, refurbishment, and testing of a wide range of rotating equipment, supporting customers across multiple industries. Main tasks and responsibilities

• Carry out detailed repairs on motors, including disassembly, inspection, and rewinding of coils using insulated wires, ensuring motors meet original specifications.
