Job summary

Sulzer Falkirk is a strategic investment site in the UK, built to be one of the most advanced rotating equipment service centres. The role involves dismantling, rewinding and testing AC/DC motors, with access to large‑scale test facilities including a 2MW high‑voltage bed.

The successful candidate will be a time‑served Winder or Electrical Machine Repair specialist with experience in a workshop environment, reading drawings and following procedures to ensure first‑time right results.

Qualifications

• Time-served Winder, Fitter or Electrical Machine Repair background.
• Solid experience stripping, rewinding, assembling and testing AC/DC motors.
• Comfortable in a mechanical/electrical workshop environment.
• Able to read drawings, follow procedures and work methodically.

Responsibilities

• Dismantling, rewinding, rebuilding and testing AC and DC motors, including traction motors.
• LV motor rewinds and full electro-mechanical overhauls.
• Strip, clean and prepare stators and armatures for rewinding.
• Manufacture and fit coils to original design — random wound and formed coils.
• Dip, bake and varnish windings using dip tanks or VPI where required.
• Carry out static electrical tests and record results.
• Basic mechanical fitting on pumps and gearboxes.

About The Role

Sulzer Falkirk is a strategic investment site, built to be one of the most advanced rotating equipment service centres in the UK.

That investment is real — bigger machines, heavier lifts, and a 2MW high‑voltage test bed that lets us fully load‑test motors and generators before they go back to site.

Main Tasks And Responsibilities

• Dismantling, rewinding, rebuilding and testing AC and DC motors, including traction motors
• LV motor rewinds and full electro‑mechanical overhauls
• Strip, clean and prepare stators and armatures for rewinding
• Manufacture and fit coils to original design — random wound and formed coils
