Job summary

Wildwood Trust in Kent is seeking an Education Assistant (Part time 0.8FTE) to support our education department. You will deliver education programmes, run the Junior Zookeeper initiative, and provide engaging animal experiences to visiting schools and the public.

The role requires teaching experience, strong communication, English proficiency, and a love of British wildlife. Location is Herne Common, with a 30-hour week and a 9:00–17:00 schedule.

Qualifications

• Experience of teaching a diverse range of people, ages and audiences.
• Excellent communication and engagement skills.
• Good command of written and spoken English.
• Administrative experience with IT and Microsoft/Google packages.
• Experience of working with young children.
• Ability to follow instructions and work within health and safety protocols.
• Demonstrate a genuine love of British wildlife and belief in Wildwood’s Mission.

Responsibilities

• Deliver the education programme/activities and contribute new ideas to expand the offer.
• Run and expand the Junior Zookeeper programme.
• Deliver animal experiences to members of the public.
• Monitor the education inbox and respond to enquiries.
• Ensure the health and safety of visitors, staff and students attending education-related activities.
• Deliver events, night tours, public engagement and activities as appropriate.
• Demonstrate safeguarding practices and coordinate with teams.
• Coordinate the Kent park events.
