Job description

A transfer post for wholetime firefighters at London Fire Brigade, open only to serving substantive firefighters from UK local authority fire services. The work is 24-hour emergency response across London, covering a wide range of operational incidents alongside prevention and protection activity. Shifts follow a two-two-four pattern across four watches, and applicants holding USAR, HGV or EFAD qualifications are prioritised. This is a substantive transfer, not a promotional process, and on-call firefighters on temporary, casual or zero-hour wholetime contracts cannot apply.

Checks & eligibility

• Full driving licence

• No outstanding development action plans
• No live disciplinary investigations and no formal disciplinary sanctions
• Not an on-call firefighter on a temporary, casual or zero-hour wholetime contract

Nice to have

• Valid HGV and EFAD licence with current in-licence motor driver status
• Valid USAR qualification: USAR phase 2, confined space and LACE
• Aerial appliance qualified staff with a valid HGV and EFAD licence
