Job summary

The Wrexham Maelor Hospital Informatics Department is seeking a Band 2 switchboard to provide round-the-clock paging and call handling. The role includes paging staff, relaying messages, and connecting callers to departments, with emphasis on Welsh language skills to determine fit.

Shifts cover days and nights to maintain continuous service, including emergency paging procedures for cardiac events, fires, and major incidents.

Qualifications

• Welsh language essential.

Responsibilities

• Page staff on long range pagers, relay numeric and verbal messages, and connect callers to the requested department
• Monitor unanswered pages and take appropriate action
• Carry out emergency procedures for cardiac arrest, fire, major incident and personal attack
• Keep records in line with standing instructions and operational procedures
• Provide a 24-hour, seven-day switchboard service as part of a team
• Replace batteries in internal paging receivers
• Arrange replacements for faulty pagers
• Instruct bleep holders on correct pager use
