Team / Directorate: People Development and Wellbeing, Corporate Strategy and Development.

Starting salary: £32,544 rising to £35,377 per annum through annual increments being paid each year (pro rata for part time applicants)

Contract type: Fixed term until 1st October 2026.

Work pattern: Full-time, 37 hours (Part time, annualised hours, compressed hours or term time working considered - discussions at interview stage welcome)

The role

As the Welsh Language Support Officer, you will support NRW's commitment to the Welsh Language Standards by ensuring that staff have access to the right training to develop their Welsh language skills. You'll be responsible for coordinating all aspects of Welsh language learning, from identifying training needs and advising on course options, to booking courses, managing supplier relationships, tracking attendance and issuing certificates.

Working closely with staff, managers and external providers, you'll ensure training runs smoothly and meets organisational requirements. You'll be the main point of contact for Welsh language learning, offering internal advice on course suitability, overseeing procurement processes, raising purchase orders and maintaining accurate training records. This is a busy, detail-focused role that requires excellent organisational skills, strong communication in both Welsh and English, and the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks efficiently.

As an organisation we support flexible working. You will be contracted to the nearest NRW office to your home and a suitable hybrid working pattern will be agreed on appointment. Any regular face to face meetings or training will be planned in advance.

What you will do

  • To deliver the learning plan ensuring best value for money.
  • Ensure any training programme being delivered is meeting the business needs.
  • Promote NRW training programme to staff so they are aware of availability of training courses including how to enrol.
  • Ensure Learning & Development intranet pages are kept up to date and staff informed of developments
  • Ensure post course evaluations are monitored and used with suppliers to ensure training are fit for purpose.
  • Using user requirement draft tender specification and assist with the evaluation of the tenders evaluations.
  • Establish training contracts and ensure training ids best value for money.
  • Develop learning schedule to inform the business of when training is available.
  • Maintain records and information in line with regulations/ legislation and agreed standards ensuring training records are kept up to date.
  • Undertake health and safety duties and responsibilities appropriate to the post

Your Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge And Skills

In your application and interview you will be asked to demonstrate the following skills and experience using the STAR method .

  • A fluent Welsh speaker, able to converse with confidence and ease in both English and Welsh, as well as respond to correspondence in both languages.
  • Experience of working with teams across the business and managing competing priorities.
  • Experience of tender process and drafting Training requirements.
  • Good organisational skills and excellent planning.

Welsh Language Level Requirements

  • Essential: C2 - Fluent in spoken and written Welsh.
