Job summary

BAT in Southampton offers an undergraduate placement in Wellbeing and Stimulation within the Research & Development function for 12 months starting 1st September 2027. You will review ingredients, run behavioural studies, and develop science content for consumers, gaining experience across multiple disciplines.

The role partners with a mentor, with regular reviews, and exposure to developing new consumer products in a dynamic, industrial setting.

Qualifications

• Working towards an Undergraduate degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, Biomedical Sciences or Nutritional Sciences.
• Interest in health and wellbeing and developing consumer products.
• Knowledge of basic principles of human behavioural study design.
• Basic understanding of statistics.
• Critical thinker with attention to detail and a can-do attitude.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing scientific literature to evaluate potential ingredient and product development opportunities.
• Design and run human behavioural studies to assess product and ingredient effects on mood and cognition.
• Analyse data and interpret results to inform decision making.
• Write up and present scientific findings to varied audiences.
• Create engaging consumer-focused science content for blogs and social media.
• Collaborate within a cross-functional team to learn product development.
