Job summary

BAT in Southampton is offering an undergraduate placement for 12 months in Applied Product Science within the New Categories R&D. You will support management of product science activities, scope scientific studies, design tests, execute experiments and interpret data to guide internal stakeholders.

The role involves mentoring, regular reviews with the Line Manager and opportunities to develop transferable skills in a hands-on technical environment.

Qualifications

• Currently undertaking an undergraduate degree in Chemistry, Materials Science or a physical science discipline
• General laboratory skills and attention to detail
• Ability to design and conduct experiments from first principles
• Scientific curiosity with critical evaluation of data
• Experience in writing scientific reports

• Managing projects and key activities for internal and external partners

• Defining study approaches and designing test products
• Designing and conducting experiments
• Conducting/commissioning experiments
