Job summary

Navantia UK is seeking a Weld Technician to ensure welding activities are planned, qualified, controlled and executed to ISO 3834 and customer specifications. You will act as the welding technical authority and support the company’s welding quality management system across facilities in Belfast and beyond.

The successful candidate will coordinate PQRs, review welding specifications, monitor welder qualifications and support continuous improvement in welding processes.

Qualifications

• IWT qualification or working toward
• HNC/HND in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Welding Engineering
• Thorough understanding of welding metallurgy and fabrication techniques
• Experience with ISO 3834 and related welding standards
• Ability to interpret welding drawings and symbols
• Strong documentation and reporting skills

Responsibilities

• Coordinate Procedure Qualification Records (PQRs) and welding procedure qualification testing.
• Review customer welding specifications and contract requirements.
• Ensure compliance with welding codes and standards.
• Support Operations in resolving welding-related technical issues.
• Maintain welder qualification records and monitor validity.
• Liaise with customer representatives and inspectors.
• Review manufacturing records and welding documentation prior to handover.
• Ensure ITPS address welding requirements.
