Job summary

Navantia UK in Belfast is seeking a skilled welder to join our naval and marine fabrication teams. You will perform manual or machine welding of fillet and butt welds on heavy steel plates for structural ship components, across New-Build and Ship Repair projects.

BPSS clearance is required and the role is full-time permanent. Applicants should have a recognised apprenticeship or equivalent and hold ISO9606-1 fillet and butt weld qualifications, with the ability to read drawings and WPSs.

Qualifications

• Must have heavy steel plate welding experience and a recognised apprenticeship or equivalent.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and WPSs and understand quality procedures.
• Hold current ISO9606-1 fillet and butt welding qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe working environment and comply with safety procedures.
• Read and interpret weld symbols on fabrication drawings.
• Set up welding equipment and LEV systems, gas hoses and cables.
• Perform flat and positional welding per WPS and best practice.
• Check welds for defects and grind profiles as required.
• Operate automated welding equipment as qualified.
