Job description

Position Summary:

The Welder is responsible for Mig, Tig, and Stick welding techniques.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Examine workpieces for defects and measure them with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
2. Fabricate, set up, and repair rigging, supporting structures, hoists, and pulling gear using hand and power tools.
3. Dismantle and store rigging equipment after use.
4. Operate vehicles, mechanized devices, or equipment such as forklifts and passenger vehicles.
5. Control machines and processes, using control mechanisms or physical activity (excluding computers or vehicles).
6. Read blueprints and use measuring tools like tape measures, levels, and squares.
7. Select appropriate gear such as cables, pulleys, and winches based on load weights, sizes, and work schedules.
8. Control movement of heavy equipment through narrow openings or confined spaces using chain falls, gin poles, and other equipment.
9. Manipulate suspended loads to maneuver over, under, and around obstacles using multi-point suspension techniques.
10. Install ground rigging for yarding lines and attach chokers to logs and lines.
11. Align, level, and anchor machinery.
12. Manipulate rigging lines, hoists, and pulling gear to move or support heavy materials.
13. Fabricate, set up, and repair rigging and supporting structures using hand and power tools.
14. Attach pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures with bolts and clamps.

Minimum Qualifications (Experience, Skills, and Education):

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• At least three (3) years of welding experience
• At least three (3) years of construction industry experience
• Ability to use precision measuring tools and equipment, including hand, power, and pneumatic tools
• Welding certification

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

This is a physically demanding, hands-on role requiring activities such as crawling, climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, balancing, stooping, and standing for long periods. Must have good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail. Work may be outdoors in all weather conditions and on uneven terrain.
