Job summary

Lanhydrock, Bodmin-based National Trust is seeking an experienced Welcome Manager (Band 1) to run our visitor-facing Welcome & Service Team, lead a diverse staff and volunteers, and help deliver a first-class visitor experience.

This part-time role (30 hours/week) involves mentoring about 30 colleagues, driving membership growth and fundraising, and supporting operational planning while ensuring compliance and outstanding service across the property. Interview Mon 12 Oct.

Qualifications

• Experience in visitor services, tourism or heritage.
• Naturally curious about people and delivering high standards of service.
• Highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities.
• Adept at managing financial performance and budget awareness.

Responsibilities

• Lead and inspire a team of about 30 Welcome & Service Team Members, including line management for roughly a third of the team and supporting development.
• Share responsibility for managing a large volunteer team across roles.
• Drive growth in memberships and on-site fundraising through excellent visitor engagement and leadership.
• Ensure high standards of presentation and visitor service across the visitor route and property.
• deputise for the Visitor Operations Manager and contribute to strategic planning for the estate.
• Support car park operations, including payment machines and parking compliance.
• Participate in a shared Day Leader rota as daily operational lead across the property.
• Take responsibility for emergency procedures when acting as Day Leader and assist the Duty Manager.
