Job summary

Pertemps is seeking a confident Weighbridge Operator for a busy site in Plymouth. The role is temporary until December 2026, with potential extension.

You will be the first point of contact for visitors, ensuring smooth weighbridge operations and compliance with environmental regulations. Key duties include customer service, compliance with waste procedures, data entry and IT system use, and assisting with administration and finance tasks.

Qualifications

• GCSE Grade C/4 or above in Maths and English.
• NVQ Level 2 in Business Administration or demonstrable relevant administrative experience.
• Excellent keyboard, IT, and data entry skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to retain information and work efficiently under pressure.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Experience handling cash and financial transactions desirable.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Act as the first point of contact for customers visiting the site.
• Deal with customer enquiries face-to-face and by phone.
• Provide guidance on waste acceptance procedures.
• Check and question customer details and paperwork for compliance.
• Enforce site regulations and waste acceptance protocols.
• Input and verify site statistics and operational data.
• Use IT systems for card payments and validation of licences.
• Maintain accurate electronic records and reports.
• Produce letters, reports and confidential documentation.
• Provide administrative support to managers and colleagues.
• Order office supplies and support day-to-day office functions.
• Handle cash transactions and daily banking duties.
