Job summary

XPO Logistics on the British Gypsum contract in Kirkby Thore is seeking a Weighbridge Operator to join the transport function. You will be the first and last point of contact for staff and contractors, operating weighbridge functions and supporting the delivery of a first-class service.

You will work 42 hours per week, 06:00–18:00, 4 on 4 off, with overtime available. A positive can‑do attitude and solid MS Office/SAP skills will help you excel in a busy logistics environment.

• Previous administration experience ideally within a logistics environment.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills.
• Positive can-do attitude and willingness to multitask.

Responsibilities

• Operate the weighbridge functions including barriers and weighing facilities.
• Ensure inbound visitors have correct permissions, inductions, and training.
• Carry out inductions and provide site rules and instruction as required.
• Direct visitors to correct locations and stakeholders onsite.
• Communicate with yard, warehouse, traffic office and customer as required.
• Utilise IT systems including Excel, SAP, XPO IT systems and Microsoft Office suite.
• Maintain health & safety requirements and raise concerns when needed.
• Uphold hygiene standards and conduct safety conversations.
• Identify potential improvements and raise to management.
• Display company values and perform other reasonable tasks.

A weighbridge operator acts as a key component of the transport function, liaising with drivers & the wider team regularly to ensure the delivery of a first-class service to our customer. A weighbridge operator would ensure the smooth running of the weighbridge facility, acting as the first and last point of contact for all staff and contractors.

You will be working 42 hours per week, 06:00 - 18:00, 4 on 4 off with the ability to cover the 24-hour current operation hours in the event of holiday/sickness. Overtime is available pre-arranged & unsociable hours. We offer 20 days' holiday (plus bank holidays). What You’ll Do On a Typical Day

• Operate the key weighbridge functions including barriers and weighing facilities.
• Ensure all inbound visitors to site have the correct permissions, inductions, and training prior to entering site.
• Carry out inductions and provide site rules and instruction as required.
• Direct visitors to the correct locations and stakeholders onsite
• Communicate with the yard, warehouse, traffic office and customer as required.
• Utilise multiple IT based systems in the effective delivery of the role including Excel, SAP, XPO IT systems and Microsoft Office suite.
• Ensure compliance with company health & safety requirements, challenging unsafe behaviours and raising any concerns with line management.
• Ensure good hygiene standards are maintained.
• Conduct relevant Safety Conversations
• Identify and highlight to management any potential improvement opportunities.
• Demonstrate the Company Values.
• Undertake any other reasonable task as required.
• Always display the highest standards of customer service.
