Job summary

Smart Solutions is seeking a Weighbridge Operative in the UK to manage vehicle movements and weigh vehicles using CMNS. You will liaise with the tipping team to maintain flow and accuracy, while handling on-site admin tasks.

No weighbridge experience is required as full training will be provided; strong IT and admin skills, plus calm, professional interaction with the public and drivers, are essential. Shifts include early and late.

Job description

Weighbridge Operative

Pay Rate: £14.00 per hour
Shifts: Early 06:30-15:00 | Late 10:30-19:00
Working Hours: 8.5 hours per day, including a 30-minute unpaid lunch break
Duration: Minimum 4 weeks, with potential for extension

We are currently looking for a Weighbridge Operative to join a busy waste management operation.

This is a customer-facing, administration-heavy role where strong IT skills, attention to detail and the ability to remain calm under pressure are essential.

Full training will be provided, including training on the systems used on site, so previous weighbridge experience is not essential. We are particularly interested in candidates who are confident using computers and are comfortable learning new systems and processes.

The Role

As a Weighbridge Operative, you will be responsible for managing the movement of waste vehicles entering and leaving the site, ensuring vehicles are processed accurately and efficiently.

Your duties will include:

• Weighing waste vehicles in and out using the CMNS system in line with the waste schedule.
• Liaising with the Tipping Hall team to manage vehicle movements.
• Controlling the number of vehicles being sent for tipping at any one time.
• Acting as the first point of contact for visitors and drivers arriving on site.
• Completing site inductions for waste vehicle drivers.
• Accurately recording and processing information using computer systems.
• Dealing with drivers and visitors in a polite and professional manner.
• Supporting the smooth and efficient running of the site.
• Carrying out general administration duties as required.

About You

The ideal candidate will be:

• Able to communicate clearly and professionally.

Previous weighbridge experience is not essential as full training will be provided. However, candidates must have strong IT and administration skills and be confident learning new systems.

Working Hours

The working day is 8.5 hours, including a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.

The role operates on alternating shifts:

• Early Shift: 06:30-15:00
• Late Shift: 10:30-19:00
